The Family Office Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations within the Krause Family Office. Central to this role is account, treasury, reporting, and tax support while ensuring the highest standards of financial controls and data integrity. This role requires a high level of discretion, as the Family Office Accountant will work with confidential financial and personal information related to domestic and international assets, including trusts, investments, philanthropic initiatives, and real estate holdings across the family enterprise.
Principal Functions of the Job
- Perform monthly accounting period-close activities for Family Office entities including journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations, and general ledger reviews, ensuring timely and accurate reporting across all family-related personal and investment entities.
- Coordinate and process accounts payable transactions across multiple systems for family household, personal, philanthropic, and investment-related expenditures, maintaining accurate vendor payables for all Family Office entities.
- Verify and process invoices for payment by confirming transaction details, obtaining required family principal or advisor authorization, and scheduling disbursements across personal, philanthropic, and investment accounts.
- Support the daily cash position reporting process for Family Office bank accounts; download and reconcile daily activity across multiple private banking platforms.
- Assist in identifying and resolving account discrepancies by monitoring, analyzing, and researching accounting activity.
- Collaborate with Family Office associates to ensure finance tasks are completed timely.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the financial affairs, holdings, and personal information of the family principals and affiliated entities.
- Adhere to all Family Office policies, procedures, and confidentiality agreements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Experience
- 1-2 years of related accounting experience; prior experience in a Family Office, private wealth management, or estate administration accounting environment preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with accounting software and systems
- Familiarity with month-end close processes and reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and reporting.
- Demonstrates flexibility and resilience in response to changing priorities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve discrepancies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
