Hours: Approximately 30-40 hours per week of dedicated availability during normal business hours.

Summary: We are seeking an experienced, Alabama-licensed Physician (MD or DO) to establish a collaborative practice agreement with a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in a thriving rural family medicine clinic that also offers select, non-invasive cosmetic services. This is a fully remote opportunity that offers an attractive passive income stream through essential medical oversight, quality assurance, and policy development. The primary commitment is providing readily available medical direction and ensuring the highest standard of patient care and regulatory compliance.

This role is ideal for a physician seeking a flexible, high-impact opportunity without direct patient care responsibilities in the clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborative Medical Oversight & Availability (30-40 hours/week):

  • Provide professional medical oversight and direction to the collaborating CRNP as required by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing.
  • Be readily available via phone, telecommunications, or other direct communication methods for consultation, assistance, and patient referrals from the CRNP during normal business hours (approximately 30-40 hours per week).
  • Review and approve the written Standard Protocol for the collaborative practice, including the formulary and approved procedures, consistent with the physician's specialty and the CRNP's scope of practice.
  • Arrange for a pre-approved covering physician to provide medical direction and oversight when unavailable, ensuring seamless coverage.

2. Quality Assurance & Patient Safety:

  • Oversee and implement the Quality Assurance Management Plan for the collaborative practice, including defined quality outcome measures.
  • Conduct quarterly quality assurance reviews of a meaningful sample of medical records and all adverse outcomes, documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations for change.
  • Perform occasional patient phone calls as part of the quality assurance process to ensure comprehensive and high-quality patient care.

3. Policy and Procedure Oversight (Aesthetics):

  • Assume final medical responsibility for all non-ablative cosmetic services provided in the clinic.
  • Develop, approve, and oversee the written policies and protocols for the safe and effective use of Laser Hair Removal and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices, ensuring full compliance with Alabama laws regarding the use of non-ablative modalities.
  • Crucially, this role will NOT involve oversight of cosmetic injections (e.g., Botox, dermal fillers) or any other invasive cosmetic practices.

4. Administrative and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Meet at least quarterly with the CRNP to discuss practice matters and quality assurance findings (required for experienced CRNPs).
  • Complete all necessary documentation and notifications for the commencement, modification, and termination of the Collaborative Practice Agreement with the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners (ABME) and Board of Nursing (ABN).
  • Ensure compliance with Alabama's physical presence and remote site visit requirements as per the Administrative Code (e.g., a minimum of two remote site visits annually).

Qualifications

  • Current, active, and unrestricted Alabama Physician License (MD or DO).
  • Board Certification (Preferred, but experience requirements in accordance with ABME Rule 540-X-8-.04 must be met).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to adhering to the Alabama Collaborative Practice Rules and Regulations (ABME and ABN)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Highly competitive monthly collaboration fee.
  • Passive Income Opportunity: Earn supplemental income with minimal to no direct patient contact.
  • Flexible, Remote Work: Complete responsibilities from any location.
  • Full Reimbursement for all mandatory state collaborative practice fees.
  • Medical Malpractice Coverage provided for all collaborative and oversight activities.
