Summary

The Family Medicine Physician is responsible for diagnosing, treating and preventing illness and injuries in children and adults, work to encourage healthy lifestyles and wellness through educating patients and communities about behaviors that promote healthy living and prevent diseases and other health problems. He/She may be asked to participate in various events, demonstrations, and trainings in the community, with Whitefoord partnerships, or internally. The Family Medicine Physician should have a working knowledge of health disparities, underserved community health issues and be comfortable working in a FQHC/safety net environment. The successful candidate will include a comprehensive appreciation of cultural awareness and sensitivity within their scope of services. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and be able to quickly adapt and stratify content for a varied age range.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical – 90%:

· Examines patients of all ages and orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis

· Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury in patients of all ages

· In the electronic medical record, collects, records, and maintains patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results in a timely fashion according to policy

· Provides clinical education in Diabetes, Communicable Diseases, Medication Compliance and other core clinical topics

· Advises patients, parents or guardians, and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.

· Treats minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems, and growth and development concerns

· Refers patient to medical specialist or other practitioners when necessary, in or outside of the Whitefoord Health Center

· Directs and coordinate activities of nurses, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other care team staff to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience

· Provides oversight and clinical responsibility for the Advanced Practice Providers

· Participate in, monitor and advance the clinical quality program and improvement initiative

· Provides on-call care remotely afterhours by phone or electronic format

Trainings, Continuing Education and Partnerships: 2%

· Facilitates training of teachers and center personnel on relevant health topics

· Identifies the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others to include medical students, residents, fellows, and other medical personnel at multiple levels of training

· Participates in Community and Academic continuing education meetings and work groups

· Works with the Medical team in developing the Health Care Plan implementing clinical policies and procedures and maintaining a superior quality of patient care

· Participates in discussion around external partnerships to increase patient volume

Administrative, Reporting, and Supervisory: 8%

· Provides leadership and participates in programmatic development and growth strategies

· Produces reporting for special projects as it relates to the development of the health center

· Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, HRSA, and safety policies and guidelines.

· Performs day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork

· Complies with Quality Assurance policies and procedures, as well as ensures medical staff compliance

· Provides performance evaluations and feedback both written and verbal for learners

· All other duties assigned by the Chief Medical Officer

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

· Graduate of Accredited medical school with MD or DO degree

· Completion of Accredited Residency

· MD or DO unrestricted license in state of Georgia

· Board Certified in Specialty Area- Family Medicine, Internal Medicine

· Minimum of 2 years outpatient experience

· BLS, PALS, ACLS required

· Knowledge and understanding of the health care norms and pathology in practice as a Family Medicine Practitioner and the ability to apply this knowledge in direct patient care.

· Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.

· Excellent phone etiquette.

· Detailed oriented and efficient required.

· Ability and willingness to travel in between sites.

· Ability to create alignment across several internal functions to achieve business objectives.

· Leadership, managerial, and team building skills.

· Experience with E-Clinical Works or other EMR systems

· Ability to handle numerous requests from internal and external sources in a courteous, professional and collaborative manner.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

· Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) experience

· Current DEA license approved with full prescribing privileges

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess above average command of speaking and writing skills.

REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to exercise sound judgment and concrete thinking when on the spot decision making is required. Ability to seek supervision for emergencies and unusual circumstances. Must be able to participate in regularly scheduled meetings.

Pay: $103,032.61 - $124,082.28 per year
