Family Services Coordinator

Contract Position

Are you passionate about helping families heal, grow, and stay connected? We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and trauma-informed professionals to join our team as Family Intervention Specialists. In this meaningful role, you will walk alongside families navigating child welfare involvement or high-risk situations by providing guidance, support, advocacy, and encouragement during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Family Intervention Specialists play a vital role in strengthening family relationships, supporting reunification efforts, and helping create safe, stable home environments where children and families can thrive.

Services provided may include supervised visitation, Life Skills support, Parent Education, Child Mentorship, and In-Home Safety Services.

This is a flexible contract position ideal for professionals who are passionate about family preservation, child advocacy, and community-based support.

Compensation

• $32.50 per hour while providing services in-office, in the community, or in family homes
• $35.00 per hour when providing transportation and facilitating visits
• $2.50 per hour differential for cases requiring interpretation services
• $15.00 per hour for travel time after the first 30 minutes
• $20.00 per hour for training (up to 80 hours)

What You’ll Do:

Family Visitation & Support

• Facilitate and document supervised family visitations while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of all participants
• Create a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment during visits
• Maintain detailed and objective documentation for agency and court purposes
• Coordinate schedules with families, caseworkers, providers, and other stakeholders
• Participate in Family Team Meetings and collaborative care planning
• Be available to testify in court when needed

Parent Education & Coaching

• Provide individualized Parent Education and coaching sessions in homes or community settings
• Teach and model trauma-informed, evidence-based parenting strategies such as STEPS, Triple P, Nurturing Parenting, The Family Check-Up, and more
• Support parents in building healthy routines, communication skills, emotional regulation, and positive discipline techniques
• Coach parents in real time during visits and family interactions

Life Skills & Child Mentorship

• Support families and youth in developing practical Life Skills including communication, organization, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and healthy daily routines
• Provide positive Child Mentorship focused on emotional support, confidence-building, social skills, and healthy relationship development
• Encourage family strengths while helping children and caregivers build trust, connection, and resilience

In-Home Safety Services

• Assist families in creating and maintaining safe, stable, and supportive home environments
• Help identify barriers to safety and collaborate with families to develop practical, achievable solutions
• Promote family preservation and help prevent out-of-home placement whenever safely possible

Transportation Requirements

Family Intervention Specialists must be comfortable providing transportation services for children, parents, and families as part of service delivery. Transportation may include facilitating travel to and from supervised visitation, appointments, community-based services, school-related activities, or other approved locations connected to case goals and family support.

Responsibilities include:

• Safely transporting clients while maintaining professionalism and appropriate boundaries
• Ensuring compliance with all agency transportation and safety policies
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and reliable personal vehicle
• Providing proof of valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration, and active auto insurance
• Promptly documenting transportation activities and any incidents or concerns

Because services are community-based, reliable transportation and the ability to drive throughout the service area are essential functions of this position.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with children and families in social services, behavioral health, or child welfare settings
• Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, family systems, and crisis intervention
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the community
• Availability to work at least three evenings per week and both weekend days

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual candidates strongly preferred (English/Spanish or other languages)
• Familiarity with court systems, child protective services, and family reunification processes
• Certification or training in parenting curricula or family preservation models
