Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Farm Shop Maintenance & Mechanic Supervisor to lead our maintenance team in ensuring the optimal operation of farm machinery, industrial equipment, and shop facilities. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting across a variety of heavy and farm machinery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in vehicle and equipment diagnostics, fabrication, and mechanical repair, with a passion for maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. Duties
- Supervise daily maintenance activities for farm machinery, industrial equipment, and shop facilities, ensuring timely repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts using schematics, OEM manuals, and diagnostic tools to identify issues with transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and electrical components.
- Perform or oversee repairs on heavy equipment such as front loaders, skid steers, RTVs, tractors, and other farm machinery using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques.
- Manage inventory of parts and supplies, coordinating with suppliers to ensure availability of OEM parts and accessories for efficient repairs.
- Maintain detailed service records including repair logs, schematics updates, and maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Enforce safety protocols during all repair activities to promote a safe working environment for the team.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in engine diagnostics, heavy equipment repair, and farm machinery maintenance.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of performing complex assemblies and repairs.
- Proficiency with schematics interpretation for electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, and suspensions.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as front loaders, skid steers, RTVs, farm tractors, and tractor-trailers.
- Knowledge of diesel engine repair, brake systems (including air brakes), alignment procedures, power take-off (PTO) systems, HVAC systems on vehicles/equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners for automotive/equipment troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating repairs and providing technical guidance to team members.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
