OVERVIEW:
Lovewell Farms, Rhode Island’s only USDA Certified Organic hemp farm, is seeking a motivated, reliable, and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Farmers Market and Event Worker and Trimmer. This is a role that combines public-facing market and event work with behind-the-scenes flower trimming at our farm. We are a small, mission-driven business passionate about wellness, regenerative farming, and making the healing power of cannabis accessible to all. As the face of our brand at farmers markets and a key part of our post-harvest team, you’ll support both customer education and product preparation.
SCHEDULE
- Spring & Summer Season (April-October): Expanded market and pop-up events schedule (max. 4 markets a week, plus at least 2-3 pop-ups a month).
- Winter Season (November-March): Primarily flower trimming, with one Saturday market (9 AM - 1 PM) and pop-up events.
- We aim for consistent weekly shifts, generally totaling at least 25+ hours/week, with potential to grow for the right candidate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years old.
- Willing to work in all weather conditions, including high heat. Markets are rain or shine.
- Physical ability to lift and carry boxes of at least fifty pounds (50 lbs) and set up booth equipment.
- Reliable transportation that can carry market bins, a pop-up tent, and other equipment.
- A hot spot ability on cellular devices for back up transaction support.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays, as farmers markets often operate on these days.
- Must live in and be able to reliably commute throughout Rhode Island as well as events in Massachusetts.
- Knowledge of local agriculture and CBD products is preferred.
- Prior experience in trimming cannabis/hemp flower is a plus, but not required, we’re happy to train the right person.
- Previous experience in customer service or retail, preferably in a cannabis-related environment and/or in farmers markets.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash and credit transactions.
DUTIES:
Farmers Market Responsibilities:
- Stock and restock product inventory and count the cash box before and after each market.
- Set up and dismantle the booth at the farmers market, ensuring it's visually appealing and well-organized.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, providing information about our CBD products and their benefits.
- Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate sales records.
- Be aware of month-to-month product promotions.
- Arrange products to maintain an attractive display throughout the market.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and deliver excellent customer service.
- Maintain cleanliness and adhere to hygiene standards at the booth.
- Schedule and organize pop-up events, emailing event hosts and coordinating payments.
- Represent Lovewell Farms with professionalism and enthusiasm, embodying our values of community, sustainability, and quality.
Trimming Responsibilities:
- Carefully trim hemp flower to prepare for packaging and sale.
- Maintain quality control standards during post-harvest processing.
- Follow hygiene and cleanliness protocols in handling plant material.
- Work independently or as part of a small team in a focused environment.
