Job Title: Home Health Aide | Caregiver

Job Summary:

Michigan Adult Care LLC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated caregiver to provide assistance and support to individuals in need to join our Home Care Team. The caregiver will be responsible for assisting clients with activities of daily living, ensuring their safety and well-being, and promoting independence and dignity. The ideal +candidate will have a genuine desire to help others, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in the client’s home.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing.
  • Assist clients with mobility, transferring, and positioning to ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Medication reminders, according to the instruction/schedule provided by the client or client advocate. Caregivers are prohibited from administering medications.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary needs and preferences.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up living spaces, doing laundry, and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients by engaging in conversation, activities, and leisure pursuits.
  • Monitor and report changes in client's condition, behavior, and vital signs to the family or client advocate.
  • Assist clients with exercises, rehabilitation, and physical therapy activities as directed by client, client advocate, or health professional.
  • Follow care plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals and family members.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of care provided, including daily activities, observations, and incidents.
  • Respect and maintain client confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance caregiving skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with other caregivers, healthcare professionals, and family members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for clients.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and the spread of illness.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent training is a plus but not required.
  • Previous experience 1+ years caregiving, healthcare, or related fields preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification are a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation is required to be reliably at client’s homes as scheduled and expected.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires an able bodied person to assist clients who may not be able bodied. This is typically described as 25 lbs with no limitation on bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods of time within common caregiving duties.

Working Conditions:

Caregivers may work in clients' homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or other healthcare settings. The work environment may vary depending on the client's needs and preferences.

Use of Technology:

A caregiver with technology experience is adept at utilizing electronic health records (EHR) systems to accurately document and track client information, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with other healthcare professionals involved in the client's care. Caregivers should also be comfortable assisting clients with utilizing assistive technology devices, such as medical alert systems, smart home devices, and telehealth platforms, to enhance safety, independence, and access to healthcare services.
