Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning and Scheduling: Developing detailed production schedules and timelines, ensuring that all deadlines are met for collections to be released on time.
- Resource and Inventory Management: Assessing material and human resource requirements, managing inventory levels of raw materials (fabrics, trims, etc.), and optimizing resource allocation to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Implementing rigorous quality control procedures to ensure every product meets the high standards and specifications of a designer brand.
- Supplier and Vendor Coordination: Managing relationships with external suppliers and manufacturers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials and components.
- Cost Control and Budgeting: Monitoring production costs, identifying areas for cost-saving without compromising quality, and ensuring the entire production process stays within the allocated budget.
- Team Leadership and Supervision: Supervising the production team, including pattern makers, tailors, and quality control staff, providing training, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
- Problem Solving and Adaptability: Proactively addressing any production delays, machinery breakdowns, or supply chain disruptions, and renegotiating schedules as necessary.
- Liaison and Communication: Facilitating seamless communication between various departments, including design, merchandising, sales, and finance, to align production goals with the broader business strategy.
- Process Improvement: Continuously analyzing production data and implementing lean manufacturing principles or new technologies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
