Feedmill Operator

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Feed Mill Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining the feed storage and transferring feed to the mill.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Process all feed orders when ordered.

2. Schedule delivery of feed to ranches.

3. Schedule ordering and pick-up of commodities.

4. Maintain inventory of all ingredients for both Macro and Micro systems.

5. Perform routine maintenance of mill equipment and schedule repairs as needed.

6. Maintain a log of required maintenance.

7. Clean feed mill equipment and grounds at least weekly, including office and pit.

8. Clean, keep in order and sweep out warehouse weekly.

9. Maintain adequate, sanitary and safe working conditions.

10. Other duties as needed or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 5 years previous feed mill experience

2. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where good standardization exists

3. Ability to interpret a varity of instruction in written, oral, diagra, or schedule form

4. Ability to read and understand general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

5. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to operate specific equipment, tools, and specific software

6. Strong mechanical skills and aptitude

7. Class A License Preferred

8. Must be able to get Forklift Certified.

9. Be able to work varied scheduled to meet operational requirement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Regularly required to stand; use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects or tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

2. Regularly required to walk, sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

3. Regularly lifts up to 50 lbs.

4. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Noise level in the work environment maybe higher than normal.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
