Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Support behavioral health needs through positive behavior management techniques and behavioral interventions
- Facilitate communication using skills such as American Sign Language or other communication methods tailored to each individual
- Administer medications following prescribed schedules and document medication administration accurately
- Collect and record data related to client progress, behaviors, and service delivery for ongoing care planning
- Provide transportation and driving support to appointments, community outings, or activities as needed
- Support children and adults with disabilities in educational or social settings, including childcare when appropriate
- Collaborate with families, social workers, and other professionals to develop personalized care plans that meet individual needs
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or behavioral health challenges is highly preferred
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management strategies is advantageous
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language or alternative communication methods
- Experience in home and community care settings demonstrating caregiving expertise
- Ability to assist with ADLs safely and effectively while maintaining dignity and respect for clients
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for transportation responsibilities
- Familiarity with data collection, medication administration, and documentation procedures
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal skills
