Role:

The Junior Estimator & Technical Secretary is responsible for supporting the Estimation Department in preparing cost estimates, quotations, and related technical documents for ship repair and conversion projects. The role also provides secretarial support to ensure efficient communication, document control, and coordination within the department in line with the Shiptech Drydocks approved SOPs and QHSE requirements.

Responsibilities:

It is the responsibility of the Junior Estimator to follow up with clients to obtain project confirmation based on the submitted quotation.

* Handling and documenting all enquiries for various projects related to the business.

* Coordinate with other departments to review and verify the drawings/scope of work, clients’ clarifications and formulate the scope of work/BOQ.

* Monitor and review data and information to detect or assess problems.

* Contribute to cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures and monitor trends

* Assist in preparing cost estimates and quotations under the guidance of the Estimation Manager.

Liaise with purchasing department to provide continued feedback to ensure competitive pricing and to obtain market rates to support the Estimation.

* Analyze supplier quotations and provide information and data to support cost optimization.

* Prepare Estimation / project summary for management review.

* Coordinate with Accounts to ensure all approved documents are submitted for client billing and payment processing.

* Maintain external communication with port authorities, clients, and suppliers in a professional manner.

* Adhere to QHSE policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors

* Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working with others

* Proactively contributes to the team and actively committed to teams’ development

Essential

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Marine / Naval Architecture / Production Industrial Engineering.
  • 1–2 years of experience in estimation or related technical role in ship repair or any production industry.
  • Basic understanding of ship repair processes and materials.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills.

Desirable

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 documentation and quality procedures.
  • Experience in client correspondence and departmental coordination.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED4,000.00 per month
