Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and hard-working laborer to join our team. The laborer will support the fence installation process by assisting with a variety of tasks, including preparing job sites, unloading and organizing materials, helping with the installation of fence components, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to the team while gaining hands-on experience in the fencing industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Preparation and Setup:
- Assist in clearing the job site by removing debris, rocks, and vegetation to prepare for installation.
- Help measure and mark fence line locations, ensuring posts are spaced accurately.
- Assist with setting up temporary fencing or safety barriers around the job site.
- Material Handling and Organization:
- Unload and organize materials, including posts, rails, panels, and tools.
- Transport materials to the job site and ensure they are stored safely.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks or trailers.
- Post Installation Assistance:
- Assist in digging post holes using manual and power tools (e.g., post hole diggers, augers).
- Help with placing and securing posts in prepared holes, ensuring they are level and aligned.
- Mix and prepare concrete or other materials for post installation as needed.
- Fence Construction Support:
- Aid in assembling and installing fence components such as rails, panels, pickets, gates, or chain link.
- Hold and position materials while other team members secure them.
- Assist with measuring, cutting, and attaching materials as directed by the crew leader.
- General Site Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Assist with post-installation tasks, such as backfilling holes, tamping soil, and removing excess material.
- Perform general site cleanup to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe boots.
- Report any safety hazards or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the fence crew to support all aspects of fence installation.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or similar outdoor work is a plus but not required.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power equipment is beneficial, but training will be provided.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively.
- Certifications (Preferred, but not required):
- OSHA 10-hour certification or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory).
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
