FF/EMT, FF/ALS, and FF (Certified)

The Louisa County Department of Fire and EMS is accepting applications for fully-certified Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/ALS providers.

Minimum requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Certified applicants must have completed Commonwealth of Virginia or ProBoard Firefighter I & II; Hazardous Materials Operations; EVOC (Class III); and Virginia EMT, AEMT, Intermediate, or Paramedic (or National Registry with the ability to obtain reciprocity before the start date.

In order to be considered, candidates must submit a completed application to the County of Louisa Human Resources Department at HR@LouisaCounty.gov. Resumes alone may not be considered. Selected candidates must complete a written exam, physical ability testing, and a formal interview process.

Certified Firefighter/EMT

$58,500 (base); $63,450 with FLSA**

Plus ALS and/or DPO/DAO adjustments

**Salaries may also increase based on prior experience and other advanced certifications!

  • $10,000 for Paramedic Certification: Base $68,500; $74,297 with FLSA
  • $8,000 for EMT-Intermediate Certification: Base $66,500; $72,128 with FLSA
  • $6,000 for AEMT Certification: Base $64,500; $69,959 with FLSA
    • ALS salary adjustments are made after completion of precepting and release by the Fire Chief and Medical Director
  • $2,500 for Driver/Pump Operator (DPO)
  • $2,500 for Driver/Aerial Operator (DAO)
    • DPO/DAO adjustments are made after completion of the respective taskbook and release by the Fire Chief.
