Duties

  • Install, terminate, including underground, aerial, and building interiors.
  • Set up and configure network equipment such as Cisco routers, Ethernet switches, and telephony systems to establish robust communication networks.
  • Perform cable routing, trenching, and conduit installation while adhering to safety standards and project specifications.
  • Test fiber optic links using equipment like an ohmmeter and optical power meters to verify performance and troubleshoot issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients during field service visits to assess needs, provide technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain detailed records of installations, test results, and service reports for quality assurance and future reference.

Skills

  • Proven experience in network installation, and telecommunication systems.
  • Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, low voltage wiring, and telephony systems.
  • Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and related networking hardware.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools such as cable cutters, crimpers, fiber cleavers, and mechanical tools for precise work.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to cabling infrastructure, conduit systems, and electrical components.
  • Experience working as a service technician in field environments with a focus on telecommunication or electrical projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and cabling schematics accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues using tools like an ohmmeter or electrical testing devices.
