Job Overview:


We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fiber optic splicing, OTDR testing, ODF setup, and working in PoP rooms on multiple fiber optic cables, including 96F. The candidate should be proficient in preparing fiber joints, home installations (ONT, Routers, OTB, and splicing), and ensuring high-quality fiber network deployments.


Key Responsibilities:


Perform fiber splicing and termination on various fiber optic cables, including 96F.


Conduct OTDR testing, power meter testing, and fault identification in fiber optic networks.


Set up ODF (Optical Distribution Frame) and manage fiber connectivity in PoP rooms.


Prepare and execute fiber joints and closures for underground and aerial deployments.


Carry out FTTH home installations, including ONT, routers, and OTB setups.


Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of fiber optic connections to ensure network quality.


Read and interpret fiber optic network schematics, splicing diagrams, and As-Built drawings.


Adhere to health and safety guidelines while working in confined spaces or at heights.


Maintain documentation and reporting related to fiber splicing, OTDR results, and network configurations.


Requirements:


Proven experience in fiber optic splicing, OTDR testing, and FTTH installations.


Strong understanding of fiber optics principles, loss measurements, and fault locating.


Hands-on experience working with ODFs, PoP rooms, and high-fiber count cables (96F & above).


Ability to use fiber optic splicing machines, OTDR testers, and other fiber testing tools.


Familiarity with industry standards, safety protocols, and best practices.


Ability to read and interpret fiber network diagrams and splicing plans.


Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.


Physical ability to work in various conditions, including climbing ladders and working outdoors.


Valid driver’s license (if required for fieldwork).


Preferred Qualifications:


Experience in ISP & OSP fiber optic installations.


Knowledge of AutoCAD or GIS-based fiber network documentation is a plus.
