We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer to join our Wilmington, NC office. This entry-level position supports our Superintendents and field leadership in the daily coordination of on-site operations. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, contribute, and grow into a future leader — The Clancy Way.
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist the Superintendent and field supervisory team with day-to-day on-site operations and coordination.
Represent Clancy & Theys on the jobsite, helping ensure construction methods, procedures, and safety standards are consistently followed.
Monitor and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, reports, and field records.
Coordinate with internal project teams and external partners to support effective project execution and resolve issues as they arise.
Assist with virtual design and construction (VDC) coordination to ensure field activities align with design intent.
Support preconstruction activities such as planning, scheduling, and estimating project needs.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with project stakeholders, including internal departments, trade partners, and vendors.
Support the safety program by following all established safety practices and reporting any hazards or incidents immediately.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Foundational understanding of construction processes, terminology, and field operations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a positive, “ready-to-learn” attitude.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction management software and platforms such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit is a plus.
Strong organizational, analytical, and multi-tasking abilities to support a fast-paced construction environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and trade partners.
Basic knowledge of construction safety practices and a commitment to maintaining a safe jobsite.
