Field Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated Field Engineer to support infrastructure construction, maintenance, and repair projects along the border of the United States. This role plays a key part in ensuring work is performed according to plans, specifications, and quality standards while maintaining accurate field documentation and strong coordination between subcontractors, survey crews, and the design team.
This is a field-based role — 100% of the Field Engineer’s time will be spent on site within their assigned area(s).
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate daily with Project Managers and Field Superintendents to support project operations
- Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance in the field
- Serve as a communication link between engineering, subcontractors, vendors, and field crews
- Inspect materials and workmanship to verify compliance with contract requirements
- Support testing and inspection activities (e.g., concrete, compaction, density, etc.)
- Promote and enforce site safety policies and procedures at all times
- Interpret and clarify technical drawings for crews when questions arise
- Monitor subcontractor performance and verify installed quantities
- Assist with preparation of change orders and field quantity verification
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and project documentation
What You Bring
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and field operations
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Familiarity with QC documentation, inspection standards, and testing coordination
- Effective communication skills for interacting with both office and onsite personnel
- Ability to work independently in the field and resolve issues proactively
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills
- Experience using layout tools such as Total Station or GPS (Trimble, Topcon, or Leica)
- Safety-first mindset and commitment to quality
Education & Experience
Required:
- Equivalent combination of education and construction field experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 1–5+ years of construction field experience, ideally in heavy civil, sitework, concrete, or infrastructure
- Experience with design-build or federal projects
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
