Field Engineering Manager

Muscat, Oman

The Field Engineering Manager is responsible to assure to the construction process the required Free Issue Deliverables (material and IFC drawings).

In particular he has the overall responsibility to ensure:

  • Management of technical documentation (filing, distribution, field revisions, as-built, subcontractor documentation)
  • Construction assistance (interface with home office, identification/approval of technical solutions for non conformities, assistance in reading the technical drawings and documents, reply to Request for Information, Vendor specialist management, preparation/approval of method statements)
  • Material availability according to construction schedule (material management and Field Material Requisitions)


  • Management of a supporting engineering team.
  1. TASKS
  • Checks the consistency between transmittal sheets and documents attached.
  • Records all information necessary to have a clear follow-up of arrival, transmittal of all technical documents, in such a way that control of applicable documents can be done at any time by anybody at any working place.
  • Duplicates and distributes all documents in compliance with the Project procedure (matrix), Client and Subcontractors included.
  • Organizes the filing of all documents.

manages the field modifications and new documents and drawings prepared by his team

  • Check and approve subcontractor's supplies proposals for permanent works.
  • Provides when required, expertise to the Construction personnel on all technical matters :
  • clarification requests,
  • final solution to a non-conformance report
  • interpretation of drawings and/or specifications.
  • Manages the master of "AS BUILT" drawings and relevant files for hand-over to the Client.
  • Manages the approval and coordination for drawings and technical documents issued by subcontractor
  • Manages the technical interface between the Field Organization and the Home Office permanent organization
  • Acts as liaison with Customer in matters pertaining to design. Coordinates internal or external experts which may be required (surveyors, welding controllers, local Authorities, Vendors specialists, etc.)
  • Acts as the Constructability Coordinator after the opening of the jobsite in order to continue and complete the constructability program started at the Engineering Center.
  • Ensure the general coordination of the Handover of the Facilities to Client (punch list resolution).
  • Check and analyse for any shortage of material (loss, damage, shortage, etc.) all possibilities of replacement, substitution, specification adjustment, etc. before giving authorisation to proceed with new additional purchase or request to the Home Office.
  • Has to manage the electronic drawings data storage and all IT subjects relating the drawings (classification, updating, …)

In case the Site Organization foresees the Material Manager, all the following duties/responsibilities/tasks related to material management are taken by the Material Manager:

  • Up-dates the status of all ordered material contacting the home office procurement department
  • Supervises in coordination with Material Handling Coordinator the reception, inspection and warehousing
  • Supervises the distribution of the material preparing the material delivery vouchers
  • Provides information on expected arrival and/or availability of materials in field
  • Manages the preparation of Field Material Requisitions
