Position Summary:

The Field Quality Inspector serves as a representative of BCR and is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of equipment manufactured at partner facilities. This role oversees inspections throughout the manufacturing process to verify that products meet BCR’s quality standards, engineering specifications, and applicable industry requirements.

The Field Quality Inspector works closely with partner manufacturers, internal engineering teams, and project stakeholders to monitor fabrication, identify potential quality issues, and ensure corrective actions are implemented when necessary. Responsibilities include conducting in-process and final inspections, reviewing documentation, and maintaining clear communication regarding quality performance and project status.

This position requires approximately 50% travel to partner manufacturing facilities to perform onsite inspections and quality oversight, with the remaining 50% of time based in BCR’s West Houston office supporting inspection planning, documentation review, reporting, and coordination with internal teams.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently while representing BCR’s quality expectations and commitment to excellence with external partners.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform external inspections for large fabricated equipment.
  • Ensure Quality process are followed and equipment is Manufactured to Engineering requirements.
  • Prepare and manage inspection reports, NCRs, CARs and other quality documentation.
  • Review NDT reports.
  • Inspect fabrication work including Dimensional, Welding, Fit up, and coatings.
  • Communicate defective conditions via reports and photos.
  • Monitor/Review NDT results to determine defects and issue recommendations for repair or replacement as required.
  • Ensure all repairs are performed using an NCR process.
  • Participate in RCA and other technical discussions.
  • Maintain and update records and historical data.
  • Verify and approve repair activities on equipment.
  • Understand our partners QMS systems and ensure they are followed in relation to our projects.
  • Perform Factory acceptance testing
  • Assist with QA and Engineering tasks as required

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Must have H.S. diploma or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor Degree is a plus but not required
  • 5+ years’ experience with Mechanical & Welding Inspection and with QMS systems.
  • CWI experience & basic NDE Certifications
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required)
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Must be knowledgeable in Large Process Equipment
  • Additional certifications (NACE, ACI) a plus
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft software, ACAD experience is a plus.
  • Be familiar with/able to interpret and understand the following related to multi-discipline construction projects: ~ National codes and standards ~ Specifications, drawings, and data sheets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.
  • Excellent follow-through.
