Position Summary
We are hiring an experienced Boiler Mechanic / Field Service Welder to join our field services team. This is a hands-on role for a skilled tradesperson who can fit, weld, and rebuild fire tube and water tube boilers in the field - including ASME code repairs under our "R" stamp program. You will work alongside other mechanics, welders, and project supervisors on outages, scheduled maintenance, and emergency call-outs at customer sites across Texas.

What You'll Do
- Diagnose, repair, retube, and rebuild industrial and commercial boilers - primarily fire tube units, with some water tube work.
- Perform code-compliant repairs and alterations under National Board "R" stamp and ASME requirements.
- Fit and weld pressure parts, tubes, headers, downcomers, mud drums, refractory anchors, and related boiler components.
- Weld in multiple processes and positions on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials - including SMAW, GTAW (TIG), and 6G position work as project demands.
- Roll, expand, and bead tubes; replace tube sheets, handhole and manway gaskets, refractory, burners, controls, and trim.
- Work directly with authorized inspectors (AIs) and quality control to ensure repairs pass code inspection the first time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; follow all company, customer, OSHA, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Travel to job sites throughout Texas (occasional overnight stays); respond to emergency call-outs on a rotational basis.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a boiler mechanic, field welder, or boilermaker in an industrial field-services setting.
- Demonstrated experience with fire tube boilers required; water tube experience strongly preferred.
- Strong fitting skills - able to lay out, cut, prep, and fit pressure parts in tight field conditions.
- Welding ability on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials; capable of welding in 6G position (or willing to certify).
- Code welder (ASME Section IX) preferred. Candidates not currently certified must be willing and able to test and certify under our WPS program shortly after hire.
- Working knowledge of ASME B&PV Code, NBIC, and "R" stamp repair requirements.
- Willing to travel throughout Texas and be on on-call rotation for emergency outage work.
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and customer-site safety orientations (TWIC, Safety Council, etc., as required).
- Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Board "R" stamp shop experience.
- NCCER certification, AWS certifications, or completion of a boilermaker / welding apprenticeship.
- Experience with burner tune-ups, controls (Honeywell, Fireye, Siemens), feedwater systems, and economizers.
- OSHA 10/30, confined space, hot work, and forklift / aerial lift certifications.
- Familiarity with Cleaver-Brooks, Hurst, Superior, Rentech, Nebraska, Babcock & Wilcox, and similar OEM equipment.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequently lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 75 lbs with assistance.
- Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in hot environments - boiler fireboxes can exceed 100°F internal during summer outages.
- Stand, kneel, crouch, climb ladders and scaffolding, and work overhead for extended periods.
- Wear full PPE including FRC, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirator (when required), and fall protection.
