Field Service Specialist

Are you ready to be a specialist for a global leader in food processing solutions?

As a Field Service Specialist – Inspection (X-ray), you will play a key role in supporting the installation, commissioning, and servicing of advanced inspection equipment used by leading food producers worldwide. With an electrical focus (and some mechanical knowledge), you’ll specialize in our inspection product line, ensuring our X-ray systems deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality performance. Based in Garðabær, Iceland, you’ll combine on-site support with global travel, while contributing to our service excellence from the local office.

What you’ll be doing

• Specialize in JBT Marel’s Inspection product line (X-ray equipment), becoming the go-to technical expert.
• Install, commission, and service inspection systems at customer sites worldwide.
• Perform diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and corrective service work, with some mechanical support as required.
• Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers and colleagues.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, upgrades, and training to ensure equipment reliability.
• Document service activities and provide feedback to support product and process improvements.
• Follow all JBT and customer safety requirements, working to the highest safety and quality standards.
• Split your time between global travel (~100 days/year, 30%) and office-based work in Garðabær.

About You

You are an electrically skilled engineer with strong diagnostic ability and hands-on experience in servicing complex equipment. You thrive on both fieldwork and office-based support, enjoy global travel, and are ready to specialize in a critical product line.

You’ll bring:

• Strong electrical background, with mechanical knowledge an advantage.
• Experience servicing, commissioning, or maintaining capital equipment (inspection systems/X-ray a plus).
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently and efficiently.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Flexibility to travel internationally ~100 days per year (approx. 30% of time).
• An open mindset with an enthusiasm to learn new technology
• A proactive, team-oriented mindset, with the ability to support both customers and colleagues.
