Field Service Technician

Industrial Associates is seeking a Field Service Technician who can install, commission, troubleshoot, and service industrial machinery at customer facilities to support our continued growth. Our team’s creativity and technical expertise allow us to design and build custom shot blast machines, and we need a hands-on technician who enjoys working in the field, solving problems, and supporting customers.

Projects are primarily focused on the installation, startup, service, and troubleshooting of our Bronco shot blast equipment (www.broncoblast.com). This position is based out of our Waukesha, WI facility with regular travel to customer sites.

Summary

Under the supervision of the Service Manager, the Field Service Technician supports the installation, startup, service, and repair of shot blast equipment at customer locations. The ideal candidate can observe machines in operation, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and implement effective solutions in the field. This role provides technical feedback on machine performance, supports modifications and improvements, and communicates recommendations back to Engineering and Manufacturing. The Field Service Technician works independently and as part of a broader service and project team to ensure equipment is installed, commissioned, and supported on time and within scope.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and start up shot blast machines at customer facilities
  • Observe mechanical and electrical systems in operation to diagnose and troubleshoot issues, identifying and implementing corrective actions
  • Perform service, repair, and upgrades on existing equipment in the field
  • Install, route, and terminate electrical wiring, conduit, and components according to schematics and safety standards
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, starters, overloads, sensors, and control components
  • Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Provide technical support during customer training and system handoff
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Service teams to resolve system malfunctions and improve machine performance
  • Recommend design and process improvements to reduce downtime and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Communicate service findings, corrective actions, and recommendations through clear documentation and reports
  • Work with customers, subcontractors, and vendors during installation and service activities
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers while representing Industrial Associates professionally on-site
  • Follow all quality, safety, and customer site regulations
  • Travel as required to support installations, startups, and service needs

Required Qualifications

  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in industrial environments
  • Knowledge of industrial machine repair and field service practices
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics and industrial electrical systems
  • Experience with 110V and 480V electrical systems, motors, starters, overloads, and basic control wiring
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Experience troubleshooting bearings, belts, gear reducers, motors, and electrical components
  • Forklift and/or aerial lift experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

Physical | Visual Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated heights
  • Ability to wear required PPE
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including hot, cold, dusty, or noisy conditions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $32.00 per hour
