Field Service Technician / Field Mechanic

Star Equipment is hiring a Field Service Technician based out of our Des Moines location.

We are a third-generation, family-owned Iowa company serving Iowa since 1968, with locations in Des Moines, Ames, Cedar Rapids, and Waterloo. We sell and service over 50 equipment brands and support customers across the region.

What you’ll do:

· Travel to customer job sites in a company service truck

· Diagnose and repair construction equipment in the field

· Troubleshoot diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and small engine systems

· Use diagnostic tools, service manuals, and manufacturer support resources

· Operate equipment for testing and repair

· Complete paperwork, logs, and service records accurately

· Work safely and professionally at customer locations

Equipment you may work on:

· Generators

· Concrete saws

· Skid loaders

· Excavators

· Telehandlers

· Service trucks

· Other construction equipment

What we’re looking for:

· Experience in construction equipment, diesel, automotive, ag, or related repair

· Strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability

· Ability to think on your feet and work independently

· CDL preferred, or ability to obtain one

· Ability to read service information on paper and computer

· Must have your own hand tools

· Strong communication and customer-facing professionalism

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
