Field Service Technician – Medical Mobility Equipment (Wheelchairs & Rehab Technology)

Location: Fayetteville, AR

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $19–$23/hour (based on experience)

About the Role

Action Seating & Mobility is seeking a Field Service Technician to repair, assemble, modify, and deliver powered and manual wheelchairs and adaptive mobility equipment throughout Northwest Arkansas.

This role combines mechanical troubleshooting, electronics work, and independent field service with a clear advancement pathway into Complex Rehabilitation Technology (CRT)—one of the fastest-growing technical specialties in healthcare.

Technicians with backgrounds in automotive, diesel, HVAC, industrial maintenance, equipment installation, bicycle repair and maintenance, or biomedical repair transition successfully into this position.

What You’ll Work On

You’ll diagnose and repair:

  • powered wheelchairs
  • joystick controllers and drive electronics
  • battery systems and positioning actuators
  • seating and support systems
  • mechanical mobility components
  • custom adaptive equipment

Work takes place in:

  • patient homes
  • clinics
  • hospitals
  • service areas
  • warehouse workspace

Every repair directly restores independence for someone who relies on their equipment daily.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair manual and powered mobility equipment
  • Assemble and modify custom rehabilitation seating systems
  • Perform field service calls, deliveries, and equipment setups
  • Coordinate parts ordering and repair documentation
  • Maintain loaner equipment tracking during repair timelines
  • Support Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) during equipment configuration
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and organized service workflow
  • Travel locally throughout Northwest Arkansas to support patients and clinics

You’ll work independently in the field while supported by an experienced technical and clinical team.

Paid Training & Certifications

  • Paid AMRG technician certification
  • Manufacturer electronics and controller training
  • Seating and positioning system education
  • Documentation and insurance workflow training
  • Advanced Complex Rehab Technology exposure

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently in field environments
  • Professional communication with patients and caregivers

Prior wheelchair experience is not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 85 pounds occasionally (with equipment or team assistance)
  • Drive between service locations throughout the day
  • Work in homes, clinics, and warehouse environments
  • Stand, walk, and move throughout an 8-hour shift
