Field Service Technician – Pet Waste Removal

Full job description

DoodyCalls Pet Waste Service Technician Needed...

Forget the crazy shifts, late nights, and weekends!

This position allows you to spend time with family and friends while making people smile and tails wag during the weekdays!

Job Overview

Are you reliable, self-motivated, and happiest when you’re outdoors and not behind a desk? Do you love dogs? DoodyCalls of the Twin Cities is hiring Pet Waste Removal Technicians (Field Service Technicians) to join our trusted team of professional “pooper scoopers” serving the Twin Cities.

We’re hiring for part-time (or close to full-time), route-based, outdoor field service positions. In this role, you’ll run assigned routes, keep residential and commercial properties clean and safe, and deliver the kind of dependable, detail-oriented service our customers rave about. If you enjoy working independently, staying active, and making people’s lives a little easier (and a lot cleaner, one scoop at a time), we’d love to meet you!

  • Drive – Strive for excellence every day and take initiative to solve problems.
  • Excellence in Service – Deliver outstanding service that makes customers happy and proud to recommend us.

What You’ll “Doo”

The job won't always be glamorous—but it is important, appreciated, and oddly satisfying!

  • Route-Based Service: Follow assigned daily routes using a GPS-enabled mobile app to service residential and commercial properties.
  • Property Cleanup: Thoroughly remove pet waste from yards and common areas, ensuring properties are left clean, secure, and gates are properly closed.
  • Waste Handling: Dispose of pet waste properly according to company standards and customer preferences.
  • Customer & Pet Interaction: Communicate professionally with customers and safely around dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
  • Daily Reporting: Use a mobile app to manage daily routes, log job completion, provide notes and photos, and communicate updates to customers and the office.
  • Professional Standards: Maintain a clean company vehicle, neat uniform, sanitized equipment, and follow all safety and cleanliness protocols.

What We’re Looking For

  • Schedule Availability: Available Monday–Friday starting around 7:00 AM. Some flexibility, with an expected 20–30 hours per week.
  • Dependability: Punctual, accountable, and trustworthy. This is an independent role with minimal direct supervision, so strong time management and personal accountability are essential.
  • Teamwork: While you’ll work independently from day-to-day, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that supports each other and shares pride in the work.
  • Physical Ability: Comfortable working on your feet all day, walking 8–10 miles (12,000–16,000 steps) daily, and lifting 20–50 lbs.
  • Animal Lover: Comfortable and confident around dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities.
  • All-Weather Ready: This role has seasonal stability—must be willing and able to work outdoors year-round in heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Detail-Oriented: Takes pride in doing the job thoroughly and correctly every time, with an eye for safety, cleanliness, and those extra touches that delight customers—because nothing ruins a clean yard like one forgotten pile!
  • Driver Requirements: Valid NYS driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation to and from our centralized starting location (you’ll drive a company car for your routes).
  • Tech Comfortable: Able to use a smartphone for GPS navigation, scheduling, reporting, and communication.
  • Positive Attitude: Friendly, upbeat, and a sense of humor is a big plus—quirkiness welcome!
  • Preferred Experience: Previous field and service work (e.g., landscaping, delivery, route work, warehouse, construction) is a plus but not required.

This Role Is a Great Fit If You:

  • Enjoy independent, physical work
  • Take pride in consistency and reliability
  • Prefer being outdoors over working behind a desk
  • Love all dogs (and most people)

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You:

  • Dislike physical or outdoor work
  • Need constant supervision
  • Prefer irregular schedules or late nights
  • Are fearful of some dogs

A Day in the Life

A typical day starts at our central location, loading up your company vehicle, running your assigned route, interacting with friendly pups and people, and finishing mid- to late-afternoon knowing every yard you visited is clean, safe, customer-approved— and significantly less… aromatic!

Pay & Benefits

  • Pay: $16/hour to start, paid weekly (~ $320-$480 gross weekly pay), with opportunities for performance-based raises, bonuses, and tips.
  • Work-Life Balance: Predictable daytime hours with no nights or desk work.
  • Training & Equipment: Paid training, company uniforms, vehicle during shifts, and all tools provided.
  • Growth Opportunities: Potential advancement into lead technician, sales, or operations roles.
  • Perks: Get paid to stay fit, work outdoors, and be the hero dogs don’t know they need!
