Join our dynamic team as a Field Services Technician, where you'll play a crucial role in supporting ANPCs cutting-edge Transponder Landing System (TLS). In this exciting position, you'll engage with airport information and collaborate with customers to ensure seamless equipment positioning and installation. This full-time position is based in Hood River, Oregon, and requires extensive travel (24-40% of workdays) for periods of 2-6 weeks, with a travel stipend included.
Essential Job Functions
Process airport information from online sources and sales representatives, utilizing Google Earth for equipment positioning proposals.
Execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), oversee system installation and configuration on-site, and conduct Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and flight checks.
Monitor installed system status and provide remote support to customer staff.
Assist customers with application/setup for transmit approval and frequency licenses.
Support flight calibration of a TLS and train airport personnel and pilots on system usage.
Collaborate with product management, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve customer issues.
Participate in customer service calls and emails, and train ANPC technicians, engineers, and external customers on product setup and maintenance.
Perform data analysis and generate system usage reports, tracking reliability and maintainability metrics.
Manage the configuration and operation of the company test site in Dallesport, WA.
Document customer feedback, conduct process evaluations, and manage Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA).
Assist with production builds and testing, updating relevant documentation.
Resolve customer problem reports and complete service resolution documentation.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree required.
3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, logistics or field services operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
Ability to travel 25-40% of the time.
Ability to train customers in product operation and maintenance.
Understanding of airport safety protocols, clearances, and flight terminology.
Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking abilities.
Proficiency in utilizing the Portable ILS Receiver for training and operational purposes.
Proficiency in using a GPS handheld device, such as a Garmin, or a GPS mobile application with waypoint and distance measuring capabilities.
Familiarity with general test equipment, including oscilloscopes, power meters, digital voltmeters (DVM), and other related instruments.
Advanced ability to read and understand assembly drawings.
Ability to write clear routine reports and correspondence.
Experience in network troubleshooting.
Ability to coach and mentor others.
Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to meet contract commitments and service calls.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport for potential international travel.
Fluency with MS Office products.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Things That Make a Difference
Experience with navigational aids and instrument landing systems is highly desired.
Background in radar is highly desired, but not a requirement.
Drone flying (Part 107 certified or capable of certifying) is highly desired.
Experience of working on civil airports and/or military airbases would be advantageous for this role.
Knowledge of the theodolite, tripod prism pole, and prism.
Proficiency in utilizing the Portable ILS Receiver for training and operational purposes.
Experience in fiber splicing and fiber optic termination.
