Job Summary
AST Filters is seeking an Entry-Level Field Technician to support the preparation, installation, shipment, startup, and operation of wastewater treatment systems. This role requires direct interaction with customers to coordinate the implementation and commissioning of AST Filters equipment at customer facilities. Along with hands on installation and preparation/refurbishment of the fleet of pilot units.
The Field Technician will provide operator training, technical support, and troubleshooting assistance to ensure successful system performance and customer satisfaction. Strong communication skills, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to solve technical problems are essential for success in this role.
In addition to field service responsibilities, the Field Technician will support research and development initiatives by utilizing 3D modeling software and rapid prototyping technologies to advance AST Filter's bead filtration and water treatment solutions. The successful candidate will assist with equipment design improvements, prototype development, testing, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of appliances, HVAC/R systems, refrigeration units, and mechanical equipment across diverse sites.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to accurately diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge.
- Lead on-site service calls, ensuring safety protocols are followed and customer satisfaction is achieved.
- Document all work performed thoroughly in service reports, including parts used and steps taken for repairs or installations.
- Collaborate with team members and clients to coordinate schedules, provide updates, and deliver top-tier service.
Qualifications
- Degree in biological sciences or engineering.
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in hands-on technical work.
- Familiarity with CAD or 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, or similar platforms.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, pumps, valves, piping, electrical controls, or industrial equipment.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and operating manuals.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical expertise in water and wastewater treatment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to work in all environments including hot, cold, and office settings.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks as required.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
