Finance and Accounting Associate

Summary

Axle is seeking a highly motivated Finance and Accounting Associate to support core accounting operations and help strengthen our financial processes. This role will assist with daily finance activities such as accounts payable/receivable, general ledger activities, financial reporting preparation, and process improvement initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop finance skills and contribute to building scalable accounting functions within a dynamic, interdisciplinary organization. This role requires the ability to work out of our St. Petersburg, FL office five days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day accounting activities, including AP, AR, payroll coordination, and general ledger maintenance.

• Assist with monthly close, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial schedules.

• Help prepare standard reports for internal teams and leadership, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Utilizes automation tools to reduce manual data entry and reporting tasks.

• Collaborate with the Finance and Accounting team to maintain accurate documentation and strong internal controls.

• Support compliance and audit readiness tasks by organizing files and assistance with audit requests.

• Contribute to process improvements, including automation opportunities and documentation standardization.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments on finance-related requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA eligibility preferred.

• 1–3 years of relevant accounting/finance experience or internship experience.

• Comfortable integrating AI-powered tools into existing systems and workflows.

• Proficiency in Excel; exposure to ERP/accounting systems preferred.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

• Team-oriented with eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
