About Uniting Pride:
Uniting Pride was founded in 2010 as an organization to advocate for the equality, wellness, and visibility of the LGBTQ+ communities in Champaign County. Since then, we have been active in the community through support and social groups, community-building events, educational workshops, clothing drives, political advocacy, and our signature Pride Fest. We are in a period of growth and looking to capitalize on refreshed community engagement, financial support, and organizational stability to meet increased needs in our community.
Primary Function of the Position: Serve as primary staff liaison for financial matters and reporting. Oversee programming team and lead programmatic initiatives for Uniting Pride.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Oversight & Compliance: Manage budget planning, financial policies, grant reporting, and compliance with state and federal regulations in partnership with ED and Board; maintain financial records and oversee financial review/audits.
2. Accounting & Expense Management: Serve as staff liaison to accounting partners. Review and track expenses, conduct bank reconciliations, manage QuickBooks records, process reimbursements, and ensure adherence to financial policies and grant guidelines.
3. Payroll & Administrative Management: Oversee payroll processing, PTO tracking, staff timesheet compliance, vendor relationships, and procurement of office supplies.
4. Financial Reporting & Board Liaison: Serve as the primary financial liaison between UP, the Treasurer, and the external accounting firm; generate and distribute financial reports to Board Leadership.
5. Fundraising & Donor Relations: Cultivate donor relationships, evaluate fundraising strategies, oversee donor retention efforts, and lead fundraising for major events like Pride Fest and Love Fest.
6. Program Management & Staff Oversight: Supervise the Program Coordinator, ensure effective program implementation, and oversee day-to-day program operations, including data collection and reporting.
7. Community Engagement & Advocacy: Represent UP in community meetings, build partnerships, and identify new outreach opportunities, especially for historically underserved communities.
8. LGBTQ+ Training & Education: Serve as part of the education team, delivering LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency training to organizations and community groups. 9. Event Planning & Execution: Assist in coordinating events, sponsorships, and training programs; manage financial aspects, including invoicing, contracts, and handling cash transactions.
10. Policy & Compliance Oversight: Conduct annual reviews of Policies & Procedures,
maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, and manage relationships with regulatory entities.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintain confidentiality of client and agency information.
2. Appropriately document work activities in a timely manner.
3. Attend meetings or trainings as directed.
4. Staffing of informational or outreach events as directed.
5. Employees will be expected to work for several hours on a weekend up to 26 times per year.
6. Employees will be expected to work (and be compensated for) extra hours during the week of fall PrideFest (occurring for a week sometime between mid-September and mid-October). No leave will be granted for that week.
7. Unless specifically detailed in the employment letter, all Uniting Pride positions are office-based and will not include a work-from-home option.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A. Degree: High School Degree or equivalent work experience in finance and program administration required.
B. Experience: The ideal candidate has some experience in financial management, budgeting, or nonprofit administration, with a willingness to learn and grow in the role. They should have strong organizational and communication skills, with an interest in data management, budget management, community engagement, and program oversight. Proficiency in or willingness to learn QuickBooks, Google Suite, CRM systems, and financial reporting tools is essential. Experience in event planning, compliance management, or working with diverse communities, particularly in LGBTQ+ advocacy, is a plus but not required.
C. Strong communication and writing skills.
D. Ability to work well with diverse or marginalized populations.
E. Ability to operate a personal computer and standard office software.
Agency Requirements
i. Employees must pass all required background checks.
ii. Use of a personal cellphone is required, primarily for staff communications.

This role will give 37.5 hours of work per week to Uniting Pride. The schedule will be mutually agreed to by the Executive Director and the employee. The nature and scope of work will be assigned by the Executive Director. If the employee is unclear about the work that should be completed or completes an assignment and doesn’t have other work to continue but still has hours left in a given week, they will reach out to the Director to get clarification and/or direction.
All staff will participate in a 90 Day Review and a 6th Month Review in their first year or work with the organization, and then an Annual Performance Evaluation from then on. These will be conducted by the Executive Director, at the request of the Board of Directors. Additional performance reviews may occur if needed in service to performance and work expectations.
