JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Plant Finance Controller

Grade / Level: Senior Management

Function: Finance & Accounts

Reporting To: Corporate Finance Head / CFO

Location: Sangli, Maharashtra

Industry: Manufacturing – Rotating Equipment & Machinery

Company: One of the Largest Global Indian Corporate Industrial Groups with more than 4000 Cr annual turnover with multi locational manufacturing Plants across India .

Role Purpose

The Plant Finance Controller is responsible for managing and controlling all financial activities of the manufacturing plant. The role ensures financial integrity, cost control, statutory compliance, and strategic financial support to plant operations in alignment with corporate policies and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Control & Accounting

• Overall responsibility for plant-level financial accounting and reporting
• Ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closures
• Maintain strong internal financial controls and compliance with corporate policies
• Review and approve accounting entries, provisions, and reconciliations

2. Manufacturing Costing & Profitability

• Oversee product costing, standard costing, and variance analysis
• Analyze material, labor, overheads, and conversion costs
• Monitor plant profitability, margins, and operational efficiencies
• Drive cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives

3. Budgeting, Forecasting & MIS

• Lead preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
• Track budget vs. actual performance and provide variance analysis
• Prepare and present MIS reports to plant and corporate management
• Provide financial insights to support strategic and operational decisions

4. CAPEX & Working Capital Management

• Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and conduct financial feasibility analysis
• Monitor CAPEX utilization and post-implementation reviews
• Manage working capital elements including inventory, receivables, and payables

5. Statutory Compliance & Audit

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws including GST, Income Tax, Companies Act, and other statutory requirements
• Coordinate with statutory auditors, cost auditors, internal auditors, and tax consultants
• Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions

6. SAP & Systems

• Ensure effective use of SAP (FICO module) for financial reporting and controls
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data within SAP
• Support system enhancements, process improvements, and internal controls

7. Stakeholder Management & Leadership

• Act as finance business partner to Plant Head and Operations team
• Coordinate with Corporate Finance, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams
• Lead, mentor, and develop the plant finance and accounts team

Education & Experience

Educational Qualification

• Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory

Experience

• 18 to 23 years of post-qualification experience
• Significant experience in manufacturing / heavy engineering / rotating equipment / machinery industries
• Prior experience as Plant Finance Controller or in a senior plant finance leadership role preferred

Key Competencies & Skills

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing finance and costing systems
• Expertise in SAP – FICO
• Strategic thinking with strong analytical and commercial acumen
• Leadership and team management capabilities
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
