Position Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Finance Controller to oversee financial operations within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of factory accounting, cost control, financial reporting, and ERP-driven financial processes, while leading and managing a team of 4 finance and accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manufacturing finance operations, including job order costing, standard costing, process costing, and departmental cost analysis. This individual must possess exceptional organizational skills, a high sense of urgency, and the ability to work independently while partnering with senior leadership to provide clear and actionable financial insights.
This position requires someone who can effectively analyze transactional-level financial data, challenge cross-functional stakeholders, and drive improvements in financial processes and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Oversee all financial and accounting activities for the manufacturing facility, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 4 finance and accounting professionals, ensuring high performance, accountability, and development within the team.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports, cost analyses, and performance metrics to senior leadership and executive management.
- Provide deep analysis of transactional financial data to identify cost drivers, variances, and operational improvement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards and reporting tools to support data-driven decision making.
Manufacturing Cost Accounting
- Manage and optimize cost accounting processes, including:
- Job order costing
- Standard costing
- Process costing
- Departmental costing
- Monitor manufacturing cost variances, inventory valuation, and production efficiency.
- Partner with operations leadership to improve cost control and financial performance across manufacturing processes.
- Analyze production flows, process efficiencies, and cost allocations across departments.
ERP Systems & Financial Systems
- Utilize ERP systems to manage financial data, reporting, and manufacturing costing structures.
- Ensure integrity of ERP-driven financial transactions and data accuracy.
- Lead financial process improvements and system optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT and operational teams to support system integrations and reporting automation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a financial business partner to operations, supply chain, and production teams.
- Challenge cross-functional stakeholders on financial performance, cost drivers, and operational efficiencies.
- Provide financial guidance to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Drive financial discipline and accountability across departments.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial governance.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve reporting accuracy.
- Lead initiatives focused on cost containment, operational efficiency, and financial transparency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in cost control within a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of experience working with ERP systems
- Demonstrated experience with job order costing, standard costing, and process costing
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing operations
- Strong background in financial reporting, transactional data analysis, and operational finance
- Proven ability to present complex financial information to senior leadership
- Experience managing a team of finance or accounting professionals
- Demonstrate a proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling, cost analysis, and reporting, with experience integrating ERP‑extracted data into automated or semi‑automated reporting tools.
- Demonstrated experience with Epicor ERP is required, including financial modules, costing structures, and ERP‑driven financial processes.
