Position Overview
The Finance Coordinator is a part-time staff level position of Strategies to End Homelessness (STEH). The position is designed to coordinate and support organizational financial functions.
This position requires being on site 1 to 2 days a week.
Core Job Functions
General Finance – Assist in a variety of company accounting tasks including, but not limited to:
- Accounts payable – coding invoices and credit card receipts and data entry into accounting system, MIP. Should maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding processes and be able to analyze transactions that don’t conform to normal procedures.
- Maintain Vendors in MIP, including filing of W-9s as applicable.
- Perform credit card statement reconciliations in MIP (accounting system).
- Cash – prepare check/cash deposits received via mail and processes miscellaneous direct deposits.
- Process ACH payments. Apply payments in MIP.
- Accounts Payable – prepare AP check payments to vendors
- Direct Assistance Program - Import financial request data to the accounting system, print checks
- Follow up on outstanding checks per STEH policy.
- Other duties as assigned
Human Resources & Payroll
- Assist in the preparation, processing, and recording of payroll, including saving all necessary supporting documentation.
- Email payroll reports to President/CEO to ensure timely review.
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience
- Minimum of associate’s degree in accounting with 1-2 years’ accounting experience. Additional accounting experience may take the place of an accounting degree.
- Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills required including ability to design and maintain more complex spreadsheets – advanced skills preferred.
- Ability to analyze problems and take appropriate action.
- Methodical, with close attention to detail and ability to check own work for accuracy.
- Good general computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word & Excel).
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, communicate effectively, and work independently while maintaining willingness to accept supervision.
- Basic understanding of not-for-profits organizations preferred, understanding of social services and/or specifically homelessness a plus. Interest in working at an organization that serves disadvantaged communities, as well as a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
