Finance Manager — Job Description
Overview
Leads financial planning, reporting, controls, and analysis to support strategic decisions, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimize financial performance for the business or business unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial planning & analysis: Develop annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, variance analysis, and scenario modeling to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Management reporting: Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements, KPIs, board packs, and executive dashboards; present insights and action-oriented recommendations.
- Month-end & close: Lead month-end close activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Accounting & controls: Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX/compliance processes; oversee general ledger integrity.
- Cash & treasury management: Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, banking relationships, and short-term financing; optimize cash conversion cycle.
- Cost management: Analyze cost drivers, implement cost-control initiatives, and support pricing/margin optimization.
- Capital planning: Support capital expenditure planning, business cases, ROI analysis, and asset capitalization.
- Tax & compliance: Coordinate tax filings, statutory reporting, audits (external/internal), and ensure compliance with local accounting standards and regulations.
- Financial systems & process improvement: Manage ERP/financial systems, automate reporting, and drive process efficiencies.
- Team leadership: Supervise accountants/analysts, set objectives, provide coaching, and manage performance.
- Stakeholder partnership: Partner with business leaders (sales, operations, HR, IT) to drive financial discipline and translate strategy into financial targets.
- M&A & special projects: Support due diligence, integration planning, and financial modeling for acquisitions/divestitures as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or MSc preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive finance experience; prior managerial experience recommended.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP, IFRS as applicable) and financial modeling skills.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP/FP&A tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Anaplan, Adaptive) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
- Proven ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred / Certifications
- CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience in the company’s industry (e.g., manufacturing, tech, services, retail, financial services).
