– Full-cycle bookkeeping: accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, deposits, and bill pay.

– Payroll from start to finish, in coordination with our payroll provider, including computation, reporting, and distribution.

– Monthly close: journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and the monthly financial reporting package.

– Revenue recognition and 401(k) contribution processing.

– Commission and sales reporting: import and reconcile data, confirm it conforms to contract terms, and become our in-house expert on the RepFabric CRM and how it feeds the accounting function.

Office and operations

– Day-to-day office management. This role absorbs the responsibilities of a long-tenured team member who is retiring, and is the on-site point of contact for visitors, building tenants, and vendors.

– Supporting the Operations Manager with vendor and service contract management.

– Supporting the Operations Manager with facilities coordination, building maintenance, lease maintenance.

– General administration support for leadership, including scheduling, correspondence, and meeting coordination.

– Organized electronic records and document archives.

Process improvement

– Build and maintain advanced Excel models and reports and help roll out and adopt new automated tools and workflows.

– Bring a thoughtful, continuous-improvement mindset to recurring work.

What We Are Looking For

Required

– Advanced Excel. This one is essential. You are fluent with complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and cleaning and structuring messy data. Power Query experience is a strong plus.

– Proven ability to run a full finance and bookkeeping function on your own. You can demonstrate, through your experience or a working exercise, that you can do this job without a finance team behind you.

– General accounting depth: AP, AR, reconciliations, payroll, month-end close, and reporting.

– QuickBooks or comparable accounting software.

– An appetite for improving and streamlining processes, including through automation and advanced Excel.

– Strong organization, attention to detail, and the judgment to handle confidential company and family financial information.

– Clear written and verbal communication, internal and external.

– Self-directed and dependable. This role works with limited supervision.

Education and experience

– Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.

– A track record that clearly shows you can run this function. Roughly five or more years of hands-on finance and bookkeeping ownership is typical, but we care more about demonstrated capability than a specific year count.

Nice to have

– Power Query, Power Automate, or other automation tools.

– Experience with a CRM or sales commission system. RepFabric experience is a bonus.

– Exposure to a manufacturers’ representative, distribution, or commission-based business.

– Comfort working alongside automation and AI tools.

A Few Things to Know

– This is a senior, standalone finance role. You will own the finance function directly and report to the VP of Operations. It is a great fit for someone who values real ownership and a long-term home rather than a stepping-stone.

– The role is on-site in Canandaigua, Monday to Friday. It is not remote or hybrid.

– You will handle confidential company and family financial information, so discretion is important.

– Lupton has been here since 1969, with an average employee tenure of over fifteen years. We are proud that people who join tend to stay.
