Position Summary:
The FCC is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Virtual Finance Manager (CA/CPA) to oversee and manage the financial operations of the company. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, excellent financial acumen, and proven experience working with Canadian companies, particularly within the service or education-support sectors. You will work closely with bookkeepers based in our Canada office, who will provide full support for day-to-day bookkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee full-cycle financial operations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Canadian accounting standards.
- Maintain accurate general ledgers and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts.
- Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with CRA regulations and applicable tax requirements.
2. Coordination with Canada-based Bookkeepers
- Collaborate daily with the bookkeeping team to review entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Provide direction to bookkeepers for process improvements and accuracy.
- Validate and approve financial documents prepared by the bookkeeping team.
3. QuickBooks Management
- Manage and maintain QuickBooks Online for all finance operations.
- Review and audit data entries to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Pull reports, set up rules, automate processes, and manage QB workflows.
4. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee AP/AR functions including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
- Monitor and optimize cash flow.
- Approve expenses, reimbursements, and ensure policy compliance.
5. Compliance, Policies & Best Practices
- Ensure internal financial controls are maintained and adhered to.
- Maintain compliance with Canadian GAAP, provincial regulations, and auditing requirements.
- Develop and implement finance policies and process improvements.
6. Stakeholder Communication
- Prepare financial insights for senior management and leadership.
- Support decision-making with data-driven financial recommendations.
- Participate in weekly review meetings as per EST time zone.
Required Qualifications
- CA, CPA, or equivalent professional designation (India or Canada).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or auditing.
- Must have prior experience working with Canadian companies (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, taxation rules, and finance compliance.
- Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently in a virtual environment and manage deadlines.
Preferred / Added Skills
- Experience in the service, consulting, or education-support sector.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and T4 filing (an asset).
- Familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets, and financial automation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to improve systems, automate workflows, and streamline financial processes.
- Experience with audit preparation or working with external auditors.
