Overview

NexGen Remodeling is building a performance-driven, process-led remodeling company. We are not hiring a traditional accountant. We are hiring a high-potential operator who wants to grow into a Controller role.

This role starts with execution and system management, with direct exposure to higher-level financial strategy, revenue optimization, and margin control. You will work closely with the CEO and Chief Growth Officer, who will support and guide more advanced financial functions as you grow into full ownership.

  • Analyze cost per head and team capacity across roles
  • Understand system constraints and scaling limitations
  • Learn to manage financial levers (revenue, COGS, expenses, cash flow)
  • Identify trends that erode margin and escalate insights to leadership

Systems, Reporting & Development

  • Build and maintain reporting in QuickBooks and Salesforce
  • Develop dashboards in Excel (and eventually Microsoft Power BI)
  • Maintain data accuracy across systems
  • Leverage AI tools to improve workflow speed and efficiency

Compensation & Performance Structure

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $55,000
  • Performance Bonus: Up to $20,000 annually (paid quarterly)
  • Sales Participation: Up to $8,000 annually (based on $100K in personal sales at 8%)
  • Systems, Training & Automation Bonus: $500 per quarter ($2,000 annually)

Total On-Target Earnings (OTE): $85,000

Top performers who grow into full ownership of the role will have a path to higher compensation aligned with a Controller position.

How Performance Is Measured (Quarterly KPI Scorecard)

1. Cash Speed (DSO) — 30%

What it measures: How fast money hits the bank
Target: ≤ 5 days

How you win:

  • Immediate invoicing at milestones
  • Tight follow-up cadence on collections
  • Clean paperwork so nothing stalls billing

2. Earned Revenue Ratio (ERR) — 25%

What it measures: Revenue installed vs. sold
Target: 70%

Ownership framing:
You do not run production. You:

  • Quarterback visibility of what is ready to bill
  • Drive billing discipline so nothing sits unbilled
  • Escalate bottlenecks with clear financial impact

3. COGS / Margin Improvement — 20%

What it measures: Margin expansion through financial control
Target: +0.25% gross margin improvement per quarter

How you win:

  • Vendor pricing improvements
  • Rebate capture
  • Price book accuracy
  • Identifying job cost leakage

Guardrail: Improvement comes from cost control and pricing integrity, not cutting operational corners

4. Budget Variance — 10%

What it measures: Spending discipline and forecast accuracy
Target: ±2% or better vs budget

How you win:

  • Proactive tracking of spend
  • Early identification of variances
  • Clear communication and adjustments

5. Revenue Participation (Sales Exposure) — 15%

  • Participate directly in the sales process by running select appointments
  • Annual target: $100K in closed revenue (roughly 4 deals)
  • Earn 8% commission (up to $8,000 annually)

Who this is for:
This is for someone who doesn’t just want to sit behind a desk and process transactions. You want to understand how money is actually made. You are curious, coachable, and motivated to grow beyond the administrative side of finance.

You communicate well. You are comfortable talking to customers. You get energy from being in the field, not just in spreadsheets.

You want to connect the dots between how revenue is sold, how it’s priced, and how it impacts margin and cash. That experience makes you sharper and more valuable on the financial side.

Guardrails:

  • Finance responsibilities come first
  • Sales participation is structured and limited
  • This is exposure and growth, not a full-time sales role

Additional Bonus (Separate from KPI Pool)

What it rewards:

  • Financial data is clean, accurate, and reliable
  • Cash flow is fast and predictable
  • Billing is timely and consistent

  • 2–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks (required)

  • Strong Excel skills
