Description:

This position performs accounting tasks which requires knowledge and application of advanced accounting principles and practices. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Finance Assistant Director. Work is reviewed for adherence to established accounting system requirements and by the analysis of financial and related reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Accounting Department; supervises mail room and payroll coordinators
  • Mange the processing of invoices, contracts, contract amendments and purchase orders
  • Resolve account discrepancy records to correct assessment, data entry errors and misapplied or erroneous payments
  • Maintain accounts payable including maintaining disbursement records, distributing charges to proper accounts, encumbering appropriation accounts for purchase orders, authorizing routine expenditures, auditing invoices or payments for accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Maintain accounts receivable including preparing and processing billing, maintain related accounts, making and recording adjustments, and process deposits
  • Election billing for all elections in accordance with Missouri Election laws
  • Generate financial reports for Directors, Board Members, and other County departments
  • Oversee, manage, and reconcile postage accounts; process reimbursements as needed
  • Assist in managing yearly budget, preparing bidding specifications, reviewing contract language, compiling data for annual budget, financial reports, and processing of State and Federal Grants
  • Process deposits for office revenue
  • Process inter-office orders
  • Perform related work as required or assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Knowledge of advanced accounting practices; general office practices; St. Louis County Procurement and Purchasing ordinances and guidelines

· Skill in writing in a clear and professional manner; using Microsoft Office Suite, and making decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations and established policies and procedures

· Ability to: maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management, vendors, and other County departments

Training and Experience:

· Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field, three years professional level accounting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Requirements:

· Possess a valid driver’s license

· Reside in the State of Missouri and be a registered voter in the State of Missouri

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,161.60 - $79,476.80 per year
