Background Information
The finance supprt Intern will provide administrative and operational support to the Regional Finance and budget unit. This role offers an opportunity for the intern to gain hands-on experience in finance and accounting, and other finance-related activities.
Under the overall supervision of the Regional Finance and budget Officer for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) based in Cairo, Egypt, and direct supervision of the budget and finance Associate for the MENA, the intern selected through advertised vacancy will be responsible and accountable for providing support to the Regional Finance Unit with related functions to support the Regional Office (RO MENA) as well as Country Offices (COs) in the MENA region.
The Finance Support Intern will provide administrative and operational support to the Finance and Budget department. This role offers an opportunity for the intern to gain hands-on experience in Finance processes, budgeting, Oracle, and other Finance-related activities.
1. Support data extraction and simple data entry in financial or accounting systems.
2. Assist in responding to basic finance or accounting queries from staff.
3. Conduct simple checks on payment and supporting documents to ensure completeness.
4. Support the verification of documentation for services or goods received.
5. Support the preparation of basic financial, statistical, or administrative reports.
6. Provide assistance to staff with travel documentation and expense claims.
7. Assist with organizing and filing financial documentation in a systematic manner.
8. VAT documentation preparation for reimbursement from government.
9. Meeting minutes taking and agenda items.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) are required
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
Prior experience in Finance, accounting or a related administrative field is an asset

Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by their university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the internship. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
