Job Summary
The Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the home healthcare agency by performing accounting tasks, such as preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with payroll and billing, and ensuring compliance with healthcare financial regulations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting audits and reporting processes.
Job Functions
Essential Functions

Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.

Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.

Support billing processes, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance claims.

Collaborate with billing and payroll teams to ensure accurate data entry and compliance.

Assist in the preparation and filing of financial and regulatory reports.

Maintain accurate records of patient billing and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and healthcare regulations.

Participate in audits and support external auditors with documentation and reports.

Analyze financial data and prepare financial forecasts and budget variance reports.

Ensure compliance with all internal policies and government regulations, especially those specific to the healthcare and home health sectors.

Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Background Requirements

Must pass Criminal Background Check
Experience
-
1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in healthcare or home health care.

Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid billing and compliance is a strong plus.

Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (AZ-DDD) Billing experience preferred

Previous management experience preferred

Strong knowledge of GAAP and healthcare accounting practices.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or healthcare-specific platforms like WellSky, Homecare Homebase, etc.).

Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Classification
This position is classified as Exempt as outlined by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Working Conditions
