MoranAssistant Superintendent of Human ResourcesSUBJECT: Financial Analyst Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.Minimum of three (3) year s of qualifying experience as a Financial Analyst or similar fiscal/analytical role required.Demonstrated experience conducting advanced financial data analysis, including identifying trends, variances, and anomalies.Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modeling).Knowledge of procurement laws, including Massachusetts General Law Chapter 30B, preferred.Strong analytical, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently, assume initiative, and accept responsibility for completing assignments accurately, timely, and professionally. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound fiscal judgment.Effective interpersonal skills and communication skills; ability to collaborate with staff in alignment with district goals.Demonstrated ability to promptly raise and address any concerns as it relates to the budget.Preferred Qualifications: A Masters Degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, or related field may substitute for the one (1) year of required experience, provided the candidate completed a graduate-level internship or on-campus position involving advanced financial analysis and data validation responsibilities.MUNIS (TYLER Technologies) Experience strongly preferred.Knowledge of Massachusetts public school finance regulations and reporting requirements preferred.Experience as a financial analyst in a large urban public school district.Experience with project implementation from generating the initial plan to delineating tasks, milestones and timelines in a cross functional department/team environment.Experience with AI driven workflows, automation, and/or writing scripts.Responsibilities: Maintain contribution revenue and donor accounting through the Brockton Educational Fund (BEF), including reconciliation, reporting, and tracking of restricted funds.
Maintain ledgers, sub-ledgers, supporting spreadsheets and documentation.Assist in preparing annual and periodic financial reports for the Brockton School Committee, local, state and federal agencies including audit support and end-of-year reporting.Assist with preparation, development, and monitoring of the districts annual operating budget.Perform reconciliations and data validation to ensure financial reporting accuracy and integrity.Monitor budget balances and projections; perform variance analysis and provide recommendations.Automate monthly and quarterly reports, reduce prep time, and eliminate manual data mergers.Establish controls for the transfer of budgeted funds, as necessary.Prepare monthly financial reports for all program administrators and the school committee and highlight any permanent variances in revenues or expenditures. Investigate pertinent areas of operation through appropriate use of the internalaudit process.Prepare pertinent fiscal data for negotiations, including data relevant to benefit programs.Prepare multi-year projections of revenues and expenditures.Prepare enrollment projections, long-range plans, and projections pertinent to the financial needs of the district.Plan and coordinate the development of statistical, financial, and management information related to employee
relations.Support grant budget tracking and financial compliance as needed.Conduct formal financial modeling, multi-year projections, and scenario analysis including reconciliation of staffing to budgeted allocations, salary projections, and vacancy tracking in coordination with Human Resources and Payroll.Monitor and maintain districtwide position control for open and new positions.Utilize MUNIS software for financial reporting and verification of payroll and expenditure data.Assist the Director of Financial Services on special projects and strategic financial initiatives.Perform purchasing and accounts payable duties.Maintains confidentiality and effective working relationships with employees, school staff, and city staff.Generate fiscal analysis and monitor spending benchmarks and other monitoring guardrails.Facilitate complex budget data and worksheets and generate analysis, charts and other visuals for high stakes meetings and presentations.Perform additional work-related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent or her designee.Compensation: 12 Month position.
