Job Title: Financial Analyst
Location: White Plains, NY (Hybrid)
Project Overview
Streamline customer savings calculations and analytics using Power BI to increase the R&PA team’s bandwidth and enable support for larger initiatives more effectively. Provide support to the group in other recurring monthly and annual deliverables.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Enhance the accuracy and depth of customer savings analyses through implementation in Power BI.
- Gather internal requirements and automate monthly rate inputs.
- Account for electric market conditions in NYS and track Public Service Commission policies and rulings.
- Streamline calculations and create more dynamic and informative visualizations.
- Support recurring monthly and annual deliverables, including:
- Analyzing customer Energy Charge Adjustments
- Cost of Service studies
- Customer rate development
- Rate reporting
- Collaborate in executing rate-setting processes, including:
- Performing impact analyses on customer bills
- Gathering rate assumptions and inputs
- Developing supporting rate data
- Verifying rate outputs for accuracy
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Power BI.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and charts, advanced sorting, VLOOKUP, MATCH, OFFSET, data linking to Access databases, and importing data from Excel, CSV, and other flat file formats. (An Excel test will be administered during the interview.)
- Basic knowledge of the utility industry and NYISO market is required.
- Intermediate knowledge of economics, finance, and accounting concepts and theories.
- Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to perform statistical and quantitative analysis.
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial, marketing, and utility tariff data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to clearly explain and present concepts across multiple areas of expertise to peers.
- Ability to anticipate problems or issues, streamline processes, and propose appropriate solutions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required.
- MBA or other graduate degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of directly relevant analytical experience is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of utility revenue, pricing, and market analysis experience is preferred.
