Position Summary
The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial datasets, tracking metrics, building budget-vs-spend dashboards, forecasting, and management reports to monitor project level and company performance.
This role is a full-time, exempt role that reports to the VP, Operations and Accounting.

Track project progress against budgets to identify variances and risks
Collect and analyze project data to create reporting packages for management.
Build budget-vs-spend dashboards, forecast models and management reports to monitor company performance.
Create high-quality, interactive dashboards and data visualizations to make financial analysis actionable.
Analyze financial datasets and track metrics like cash flow.
Manage the technology behind the financial reports and dashboards, ensuring accurate ERP data mapping.
Compile data from various systems to provide trends and track financial health of the organization and individual projects.
Provide rapid data analysis to support leadership decisions.
Contribute as a subject-matter-expert on the design and implementation of software related to fixed assets, material management, fleet management, workforce management, timekeeping and other modules in the ERP system.
Act as liaison between Cooper and external vendors to create and modify datasets and reports.
Mentor and coach other members of the management team and staff regarding best practices in various areas of the accounting process.
Review and revise policies and procedures as needed to ensure compliance with GAAP and other outside agencies.
Assist in the extraction, compilation, and analysis of information for the annual CPA review.
Participate in strategy discussions with management on reporting, data collection, and software development opportunities.
Serve as “internal reviewer” of various balance sheet accounts to ensure ongoing accuracy.
Research project related expenses in preparation for forecasting and WIP calculations.
Maintain multiple spreadsheets with detailed data for use in health benefit reporting, labor rate schedules, and other bidding metrics.
Assist CFO in creating templates and forms for use by project management and field staff.
Assist as needed to compile external audit information and other reports as needed.
Understand the various accounting processes that drive information through the ERP. Utilize knowledge of accounting systems to automate as much as possible and provide feedback to management. Periodically shadow roles to ensure data processing integrity and adherence to published policies and procedures.
“Own” the “Corporate Playbook” and ensure that all items are up-to-date and stored in the appropriate location on the server.

Position Skills and Abilities
Education: Accounting degree, MBA preferred.
Experience: 7-10 years in a senior accounting role. Construction industry knowledge and experience related to cost accounting and Work In Progress (WIP) reporting.
Computer Skills: Strong Excel skills. Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and other similar products. Vista Viewpoint.
