Financial Analyst - Insurance (Remote)


About the Role

A growing insurance organization is seeking a Financial Analyst to support its expanding finance function. This opportunity is ideal for a professional with 1-3 years of accounting or FP&A experience who is eager to work with complex data sets, contribute to business analytics, and gain exposure to reinsurance operations.

This is a highly visible role within the finance team, where you will play a key part in core reporting and reconciliation processes that drive strategic insights and informed decision-making. The position offers strong long-term growth potential within a collaborative and evolving environment.


Key Responsibilities



Financial Reporting & Reconciliation

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across insurance entities and internal management reporting
  • Prepare and record premium, loss, and commission journal entries
  • Validate claims reporting and reconcile escrow account activity
  • Develop reporting schedules and dashboards for senior leadership and board-level reporting

Reinsurance Operations Support

  • Maintain reinsurance billing records and supporting documentation
  • Reconcile reinsurance-related data and assist in preparing analytical schedules

Reporting & Analytics Enhancement

  • Extract and analyze large data sets, transforming raw data into actionable insights for finance leadership
  • Perform recurring reconciliations and investigate variances or data fluctuations
  • Assist in testing automated systems and reporting tools prior to implementation
  • Build and enhance Excel-based reporting templates to improve efficiency and scalability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or insurance operations
  • Prior exposure to Property & Casualty insurance preferred; reinsurance experience is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills (PivotTables, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP)
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
