Financial Analyst/Accountant

As our firm continues to expand, we are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Financial Analyst / Accountant to help drive financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and risk management initiatives. This role will work closely with firm leadership to provide financial insights that support operational decision-making, sustainable growth, and long-term profitability.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Financial Analyst / Accountant to join our growing team. This individual will play a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and strategic financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a professional services environment, preferably within a law firm, and possess a strong understanding of trust account management, financial controls, and risk mitigation strategies.

The successful candidate will partner with leadership to analyze firm performance, identify trends, evaluate financial risks, and develop recommendations that support business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term financial models
• Analyze firm revenue, expenses, profitability, and cash flow trends to support strategic decision-making
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership review
• Monitor key financial metrics and identify opportunities for increased profitability and operational efficiency
• Perform variance analysis and provide recommendations regarding budget performance
• Assist with financial planning related to staffing, expansion, technology investments, and operational growth
• Manage and reconcile attorney trust accounts (IOLTA) and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Develop internal controls and financial processes designed to minimize financial risk and improve reporting accuracy
• Assist leadership in evaluating business risks, forecasting potential financial impacts, and developing mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with department leaders to create financial projections and monitor departmental performance
• Support audits, tax preparation, and compliance-related financial activities
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial operations through automation and process improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field required
• Minimum of 1-5 years of accounting, financial analysis, or financial planning experience
• Law firm, legal services, or professional services experience strongly preferred
• Experience with trust account management and reconciliations preferred
• Strong understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting
• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis
• Experience with accounting and financial management software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with executive leadership
