Job Summary
The Financial Assistant ensures the church’s financial integrity by managing day-to-day
financial operations and supporting pastoral and ministerial staff with budgetary needs.
Working in tandem with an outsourced bookkeeper, this role is responsible for accounts
payable verification, review of deposits, distribution of restricted funds, and financial
reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight: Maintain precise financial records, manage statement
reconciliations, credit cards oversight and prepare comprehensive monthly,
quarterly, and annual statements (including SBC and State of Tennessee filings).
Budgetary Support: Lead internal budget preparation and provide leadership with
regular reports to assist in ministry planning. Administrator for purchase
requests and the distribution of restricted, memorial, and benevolence funds.
Operations: Manage event registration payments, and serve as the central liaison
between the staff, bookkeeper, the Treasurer, and the Finance Team. Works with
the Counting Team to ensure accuracy of deposits.
Administration: Provide Notary Public services and complete additional
administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications
Proven background in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administration.
Required: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft 365.
Preferred: Experience with Planning Center; familiarity with Southern Baptist
Convention reporting.
Strong organizational skills with a commitment to strict confidentiality.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
