Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. This pivotal role involves overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support organizational growth. Duties
- Manage and oversee all accounting operations including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements relevant to non-profit and governmental organizations.
- Prepare, analyze, and present comprehensive financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and regulatory filings.
- Conduct detailed account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.
- Lead budgeting processes, forecasting activities, and financial planning initiatives to support organizational objectives.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure adherence to policies.
- Coordinate external audits and facilitate transparent communication with auditors while ensuring timely completion of audit procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes by leveraging accounting software tools like Xero or Sage for automation and efficiency.
- Manage cash management activities including cash flow forecasting, liquidity analysis, and accounts reconciliation to optimize organizational resources.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements specific to non-profit or governmental entities while maintaining compliance with applicable standards such as GAAP or IFRS.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and double entry bookkeeping.
- Proven experience in governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, and public accounting environments.
- Strong technical accounting skills with expertise in financial concepts such as debits & credits, account reconciliation, general ledger management, and account analysis.
- Proficiency in financial management software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms; familiarity with financial software integration is a plus.
- Excellent financial report writing skills combined with the ability to interpret complex data into clear insights for stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability in budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
- Strong understanding of regulatory reporting requirements relevant to non-profit or government sectors.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation accurately under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and presenting financial information clearly.
- Knowledge of payroll processing procedures along with experience managing accounts payable/receivable functions efficiently. Pay: $106,566.12 - $128,337.69 per year
