TITLE: Financial Merchandising Analyst

Location: Primarily Remote (Chattanooga, TN Office twice per month with occasional travel to Anaheim, CA.)

JOB OVERVIEW:

Responsible for delivering financial and merchandising analysis to optimize product profitability, support global sales strategies, and enable data-driven decision making across our turf & grass portfolio. You’ll partner with sales, marketing, finance, and supply chain teams to align merchandising tactics with TenCate Grass’s business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Financial & Assortment Analysis

Evaluate product P&L performance, margin trends, and inventory turns.
Monitor & develop KPIs: sales velocity, true cost, gross margin return on investment (GMROI), inventory-to-sales ratios.
Conduct scenario modeling and sales forecasts for new/existing products.
Analyze SKU-level performance; recommend assortment adjustments.

Pricing Strategy & Promotions

Support pricing initiatives—core pricing, seasonal markdowns, and promotional campaigns.
Create price elasticity models and assess impact on volume and margin.
Contribute to promotional calendar planning and margin optimization.

Inventory & Supply Planning

Track SKU-level inventory; support safety stock, reorder triggers, and EOQ modeling.
Partner with procurement/supply chain to align inventory with demand forecasts.
Drive initiatives to reduce excess inventory and improve Cash Conversion Cycle.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with marketing, sales, channel management, and operations to align on strategies and launch plans.
Provide analytic support for product launches, channel promotions (e.g. distributors, OEMs), and cross-border rollouts.

Reporting & Visualization

Develop dashboards and regular reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) for senior leadership and business units.
Present clear, actionable insights to diverse stakeholders, including international teams.
Create period review materials for senior-level review

Continuous Improvement

Lead process enhancements: automation of reports, system upgrades (e.g., ERP, BI tools).
Incorporate industry best practices and tools to improve efficiency and analytical rigor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Economics, Data Science or similar.
5+ years’ experience in financial analysis, merchandising, or inventory planning—preferably in retail, distribution, or manufacturing.
Person must be a self-starter, self-sufficient and comfortable working independently. Must take initiative to create new reports or analyze the business from a new angle.
Experience in synthetic turf, horticulture, landscaping, or building products is a plus.

Technical Skills

Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros). Intermediate to advanced SQL, BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with ERP systems and forecasting tools.
Statistical or financial modeling experience preferred.
