Financial Planning Analyst

About You

As a member of the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Department, the Analyst will partner with Wakefern management for the Frozen and Dairy Divisions to develop strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and divisional performance metrics. This role is responsible for annual budgeting, financial forecasting, scenario planning, sales and operational reporting, and sensitivity analysis for these divisions, as well as the Hatfield and Gouldsboro facilities.

The Analyst will analyze divisional P&Ls and oversee the preparation of weekly operational reports, including Sales, Productivity, and Cost per Piece (CPP). The position is also responsible for overseeing inventory reconciliations and warehouse damage reporting.

The FP&A Analyst will interpret, communicate, and measure the financial components of Wakefern’s Divisional Strategic Plans. This role requires strong communication skills and frequent interaction with Wakefern leadership, various divisions, and Members. The Analyst will also work closely with the Procurement and Logistics teams to support sales growth and drive operating cost reductions.


Essential Job Functions:

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyzing inventory trends, variances, and reconciliation results
  • Report sales, oversite, and Cost per piece (CPP) that guide forecasting
  • Complete annual budgeting and monthly actual to budget analysis
  • Derive and maintain financial forecasts for all responsible General Leger P&L accounts
  • Respond to account inquiries and monitor controllable expenses
  • Track over/short activity and support continuous improvement


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or relevant field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with financial statements, P&L analysis, and budgeting
  • Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to use AI in daily work responsibilities.
  • Ability to build relationships across divisions and navigate Wakefern to find answers to important questions.


Additional experience considered a plus

  • MBA or Master’s Degree in relevant field
  • Knowledge of TM1 Analytics, SAP, and Cognos platforms
  • Experience with FP&A tools
  • Knowledge of retail operations, real estate, pricing, merchandising, and Wakefern’s competitors


Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Availability to work a varied, flexible schedule to meet business demands
  • Ability to monitor computer screens for long periods of time
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule as established by the division (4 days on-site, 1 day remote)

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $80,000- $90,000. Placement in the range depends on several factors, including experience, skills, education, geography, and budget considerations.
