Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic-thinking Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager to lead enterprise-wide financial planning and analysis initiatives. This key role partners closely with executive leadership to manage the review, planning, and execution of core financial activities across Scouting America.

Reporting to the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis, the FP&A Manager delivers actionable, forward-looking financial insights that inform executive discussions and support strategic decision-making. This role is responsible for developing and refining financial materials for Board presentations, internal leadership meetings, and ad hoc analyses, ensuring leadership has access to timely, accurate, and well-supported information.

By building strong cross-functional partnerships and applying deep financial expertise, the FP&A Manager plays a critical role in identifying risks, uncovering opportunities, and driving the organization toward its financial and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Partners with Executive Vice Presidents, the VP of FP&A, and senior leaders across the organization to deliver high‑quality financial analysis, strategic insights, and budget guidance that strengthen enterprise planning, resource allocation, and investment decisions.
  • Serves as a financial steward for the organization, promoting strong fiscal discipline by highlighting risks and opportunities, reinforcing sound financial judgment, and driving data‑informed decision‑making across key initiatives.
  • Advises leadership on the development and management of long‑term financial plans and models, reviewing financial results for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Leads the enterprise adoption and optimization of Workiva to create, maintain, and enhance Board decks, committee materials, and financial reports, improving reporting efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Responds to leadership requests for financial data, analysis, and research, providing clear insight into financial performance and the strategic implications of business decisions.
  • Designs, maintains, and improves financial planning and costing models; manages key budget inputs; and ensures timely, compliant submission of budgets and revisions into Hyperion.
  • Monitors organizational spending and conducts regular financial reviews to assess trends, variances, and future funding needs, offering recommendations to improve cost management and resource deployment.
  • Strengthens cross‑department collaboration to ensure financial inputs are accurate, timely, and strategically aligned across all business units.
  • Works closely with Accounting to identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues, ensuring accurate financial results and timely reporting.
  • Improves financial processes, controls, and workflows by identifying efficiency opportunities and implementing enhancements in planning, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Supports enterprise system optimization efforts, contributing to enhancements in Hyperion, Workiva, and related financial planning tools.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Competencies
  • Knowledge of: Demonstrates deep FP&A expertise in forecasting, planning, and financial reporting, with the ability to evaluate fundraising financials, campaign performance, and donor‑related cost drivers to guide strategic decision‑making. Maintains awareness of broader fundraising, industry, and market trends that influence development priorities and organizational performance.
  • Skill in: Skilled in building, maintaining, and analyzing complex financial models using Workiva or similar platforms, with strong capabilities in accurate budget forecasting, scenario planning, trend identification, and problem‑solving. Demonstrates clear and effective communication with stakeholders at all levels, maintains precise and reliable financial records, consistently meets deadlines in fast‑paced environments, and empowers and motivates teammates to achieve high‑performance outcomes.
  • Ability to: Demonstrates the ability to make informed decisions and negotiate effectively with stakeholders, adapt quickly to changing or unforeseen circumstances, manage time efficiently, and prioritize, delegate, and direct the budget workflow and process to ensure smooth and timely execution.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Qualifications
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in finance or a related discipline, with substantial responsibility for financial planning and analysis supporting fundraising/philanthropic functions.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check.

Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.

Preference
  • MBA or equivalent
  • Hands‑on experience with Workiva, Hyperion, or similar enterprise reporting, workflow, or financial automation platforms.
