Financial Reporting Specialist

The Role
The Financial Reporting Specialist is the single point of ownership for month-end close and management reporting. The role ensures that financial reports are accurate, timely, standardized, and decision-ready, enabling management to monitor performance, act without delay, and maintain strong execution and compliance throughout the reporting process. This role exists to eliminate reporting bottlenecks, separate reporting from day-to-day transaction processing, and improve the overall quality and reliability of financial insights. Key Responsibilities: 1. Month-End Close & Reporting Ownership • Own the month-end closing process and timetable, from pre-close checks to final report issuance • Prepare and deliver monthly management reports, including: - Profit & Loss - Balance Sheet - Cash flow summaries - AR and AP aging - Key operational and financial KPIs • Ensure reports are delivered within agreed deadlines, with minimal post-close adjustments • Coordinate inputs from AP, AR, and Senior Accountant to ensure completeness and accuracy 2. Financial Analysis & Management Commentary • Perform variance analysis against prior periods, budget, and expectations • Provide clear, concise explanations for material movements • Identify trends, risks, inconsistencies, or unusual items • Support the Finance Manager with insights, not just raw numbers 3. Data Validation & Reconciliations • Review general ledger balances prior to reporting • Perform and/or review key balance sheet reconciliations • Ensure consistency across ERP, CRM, and reporting outputs • Proactively flag data integrity issues and recommend corrective actions 4. Reporting Standards & Process Improvement • Develop, maintain, and improve standardized report templates • Document reporting logic, assumptions, and definitions • Shorten the reporting cycle through better structure, automation, and coordination • Support continuous improvement of the month-end close process 5. Cross-Functional & Backup Support • Act as a reporting “floater”, capable of supporting the accounting team during absences or peak periods • Work closely with the Senior Accountant on escalations and complex items • Support audits, management reviews, and compliance-related reporting when required

Requirements
Education & Technical Competencies: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field • Strong understanding of financial statements and reporting principles • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) • Hands-on experience with accounting/ERP systems and data extraction • Solid knowledge of month-end close processes • Hands-on exposure to Zoho Analytics or comparable BI software (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.) • Ability to understand data models, reporting logic, and dashboard structures • Experience translating operational data into meaningful management reports • Familiarity with data extraction, transformation, and validation for BI reporting purposes Experience: • 3–5 years experience in accounting or financial reporting • Prior exposure to management reporting and analysis • Accounting Experience is an advantage Personal Attributes: • High level of integrity and confidentiality • Strong sense of ownership and accountability • Detail-oriented, structured, and deadline-driven • Able to operate independently with minimal supervision • Comfortable handling sensitive financial and performance data • Excellent communication skills
